Mariya. Dragova.

Mariya Dragova, MSc, RGN is a Senior Trainer at the Advanced Urinary Catheterisation Academy (AUCA) with extensive experience in urological nursing, practical skills education and advanced urinary catheterisation.

She has contributed significantly to the development and implementation of safer catheterisation practice through clinical research, presentations, publications and competency-based teaching. Her work has included guidewire-assisted catheterisation, difficult re-catheterisation, urethral catheterisation injury prevention and the development and implementation of the Advanced Male Urethral Catheterisation (AMUC) course.

Mariya also has a particular interest and expertise in clinical filming. She regularly supports the recording of reconstructive urological procedures for surgical education and plays an important role in the audiovisual delivery of GURS-Masterclass surgical teaching, including live reconstructive surgery.

Her commitment to education was recognised with the 2024 UCLH Award for Nursing Excellence – Education.
