AUCA Conference 2026 – Free Recording Access

Watch the AUCA Conference 2026 free of charge: catheterisation injury prevention, safe escalation, human factors and implementing effective catheterisation training.

Description

AUCA Conference 2026
Catheterisation Injury—Prevention, System Learning and Accountability

Watch the recording of our online conference held on 30 October 2026, available free of charge.

The programme covers prevention, recognition and acute management of catheterisation-related urethral injury, safe stopping and escalation pathways, and learning from cases involving serious patient harm.

The afternoon focuses on basic and advanced catheterisation skills training, e-learning, competency assessment, institutional implementation and governance, and using electronic patient records to improve catheterisation safety.

CPD certificate
The conference was awarded 6 CPD credits by BAUS. After watching the sessions, please complete and submit our feedback form:

Use the same email address you used to register. Your CPD attendance certificate will be emailed to you once your completed form has been received.

Aims

By the end of the programme, delegates should be able to:

• Explain how catheterisation-related urethral injuries occur and identify opportunities to prevent avoidable harm.

• Recognise difficulty during catheterisation, apply safe stopping principles and follow appropriate escalation pathways.

• Describe the early recognition and acute management of catheterisation-related urethral injury and its serious complications.

• Identify human factors and system failures contributing to catheterisation harm, and explain the importance of incident reporting, organisational learning and professional accountability.

• Describe how to implement structured basic and advanced catheterisation training, combining e-learning, supervised practical skills and DOPS-based competency assessment.

• Explain how institutional governance and electronic patient-record surveillance can support safer catheterisation and monitor improvement.

Target Audience

Doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals involved in urinary catheterisation, clinical educators, and those responsible for patient safety, training implementation and clinical governance.

Program

Catheterisation Injury—Prevention, System Learning and Accountability

Friday, 30 October 2026 — Original live programme

Times below refer to the original live event (UK time, GMT), not recording playback timestamps.

The morning addresses prevention, early recognition, escalation, serious complications, human factors and accountability through clinical lectures and case-based discussions. The afternoon focuses on competency-based catheterisation training, institutional implementation and governance, and how electronic patient records can support patient-safety learning, culminating in a semi-live practical skills training demonstration.
